Fancy Beasts - Storyboard Labeling File Guide

Storyboard Labeling File Guide

Folder Naming:
RANDOM NOTE
| DAL__SBDM

Note

This is how you’ll name the folder for each Storyboard file you submit. Whenever you see “DAL” used, it represents the project’s name, “Death After Life” in this case. Next, add “SB” to specify the department this folder belongs to. Ensure to include the “Date” followed by your “Initials.” Please note that we use the year, day, and month as our numbering system. This will facilitate easier navigation of the server for your crewmates!

File Naming:

| DAL-Trailer_Phase_v00_Intials_00y00d00m.sboard
| DAL-Trailer_Phase_v00_Intials_00y00d00m.drm
| DAL-Trailer_Phase_v00_Intials_00y00d00m.clip

Note

This is what a general Storyboard file name should look like if it hasn’t been divided into sequences. This helps us tell the difference between compiled boards and sequences that have been split up.

Since not everyone will be able to use the same animation programs, there might be some minor issues, but this means we’ll assemble them in an editing program.

Some storyboard file types you might see:
|.sboard for a storyboard file
|.drm for Procreate Dreams file
|.clip for a Clips Studio Paint file.

Sequence Labeling:

| DAL-SQ01_Trailer_Thumbs_v04_DM_.sboard
| DAL-SQ01_Trailer_Thumbs_v04_DM_.drm
| DAL-SQ01_Trailer_Thumbs_v04_DM_.clip

Sequence Numbering System:

| SQ01, SQ34, SQ69, SQ101

Note

Sequence numbers will be used if boards are separated from the main cuts. This practice will become more prevalent after the thumbnail passes.

Board Status:

| DAL-SQ01_Trailer_Thumbs_v04_DM_.sboard / .drm / .clip

Terms:
| Thumbs = Thumbnails phase of storyboards.
| Roughs = Rough phase of the storyboards, more clear than Thumbs.
| Cleans = Cleans phase is the cleaning up process of the boards.
| Final = Final means the file is completed in its final form.

Note

This one seems quite self-explanatory. By defining any of these terms, we can determine the stage of the process these boards are currently in.

Crew Name:

| DAL-SQ01_Trailer_Thumbs_v04_DM_.sboard / .drm / .clip

Note

When labeling a file with the artist’s name “DM”, ensure to use their first and last name initials. If two artists share the same initials, the artist may use their middle name between the first and last initials, “DJM”. Alternatively, we can assign them a number, such as “DM1”.

Version Passes:

| DAL-SQ01_Trailer_Thumbs_v04_DM_.sboard / .drm / .clip

Example

| v01, v02, v03, v04

Note

This labeling system will help us identify the specific version of a file we’re looking for. Since multiple board passes can occur within the same day, a date such as “” might not be enough for prompt clarifications. That’s why we include “v04” in the label.
